On July 9, more than 25 artists, alchemists and bands will converge at the magical Coney Island Brewery beer garden for NYC’s largest, most impactful community-driven public art creation, exhibition and performance event: EARTHYGIRTHY!
What: Brooklyn’s extraordinary artists, alchemists and musicians will share their work in a festival organized by Beautify Brooklyn and hosted by Coney Island Brewery at one of the world’s most magical and iconic beach locations– Coney Island! Musicians and bands spanning a range of generations and genres will perform throughout the day on a special outdoor stage. Painters, illustrators, ceramicists, photographers and artists working in multiple media will show and sell their works and lead in person workshops in the comfy, umbrella-shaded environs of the brewery’s outdoor beer garden just one block from the beach. More than 600 visitors are expected to experience homegrown art and music, explore our local ecology through a variety of activities and art workshops, and get informed about how to host community-led environmental and arts actions throughout Brooklyn’s neighborhoods.

EARTHYGIRTHY Art & Earth Center offers details of all artists and activities and bands. The center will be located in the beer garden at 1904 Surf Avenue at Coney Island, two blocks from the Stillwell Avenue Q/N/F/R-train station. All are invited to participate in our creative art & Earth activities any time from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m.

Artists, Alchemists & Musicians: Performers and artists include an incredibly unique lineup of varied styles and inspirations including the exquisite Pan-African vibe of NYC salsa ensemble La Madrugada, the ethereal, Earthy and eclectic harmony of nature-inspired sound and dance of Andrea Ward / Speaking Vine, the unique rap stylings of Daisy Laze, and the traditional, graceful fiddling and old-time American songs of The Backyard Boys. Glam Gardener NYC, a wild foods forager will be showcasing many of the wild edible plants that can be found growing across NYC headlines a hip and Earth-conscious lineup including Moody Flowers, Oritomi Handcraft, Tomahawk Photos NYC, Anduin Vaid, The Clumsy Potter, Gnarly Casual, Shayma Aziz, Desiree Gonzalez, Expressive Arts NYC, Robert Elstein and many more!
Activities: From upcycled tee-shirts and trash-to-treasure, to build-your-own terrarium, EARTHYGIRTHY’s activities will inspire all to see the Earth and materials in a new light. Copies of Beautify Brooklyn’s first EARTH COMIC, by celebrated illustrator Diane Schoenberg will be available to take home. Participants will also be instructed in how to create their own EARTH COMICS for possible publication.
[Brooklyn, NY] – EARTHYGIRTHY, a free celebration of the planet Earth through music and art is coming to one of the planet’s most festive places, Coney Island!
The festival, happening on Sunday, July 9 from noon to 6 p.m., is bringing it all to the people’s playground, just one block from Brooklyn’s treasured beach and coastline, at Coney Island Brewery at 1904 Surf Avenue
With the goal of incubating environmentalism and the arts in Brooklyn, more than 25 locally-based artists and alchemists will display and sell their works in person, conduct workshops and interact with visitors in the brewery’s well-shaded beer garden. Musically, a wide variety of bands encompassing a thrilling bit of the soul of our planet will perform on a special stage throughout the day.
EARTHYGIRTHY, presented by the inclusive, community-driven nonprofit Beautify Brooklyn, is free and open to the public of all ages. Food and beverages as well as clean, comfortable restrooms will be available to all, courtesy the celebrated microbrewery.
